What We Do

The County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency is made up of Behavioral Health, Public Health, and Animal Services, with a combined total of 481.5 full-time-equivalent staff members who provide a broad array of services essential to the health and well-being of residents and visitors of San Luis Obispo County.

With a budget of $89.6 million, the Health Agency strives to ensure that all people in our community enjoy healthy, successful and productive lives and have access to the basic necessities. It operates the animal services shelter, provides behavioral health care, including both mental health care and drug and alcohol treatment and prevention services to youth and adults, and offers public health services, including environmental health services, among other essential services.
